This weeks lovin

So I've had that feeling lately..... like I want to paint every single wall in my house and get some really awesome things to hang on the wall.... this feeling was bound to show up sooner or later.... afterall, we have live here for a-year-and-a-half!
I am in love with subway art right now! I'm going to attempt to make a "family rules" sign for our living room.
Of course I'm still loving this Amy Butler fabric. My comforter is screaming for a duvet cover so maybe.... just maybe I could sew a few straight lines and have myself a new comforter. Easier said than done... Joel told me that the seams that I sew are more crooked than an Illinois politician! Hey Joel, what about Aaron Schock?!?! He's not a crooked politician!
I'm sorry I don't have a source for this.... I have no idea where I found it but... I must have one.:)
I'd love to make one of these Pottery Barn knockoff growth charts in the kid's room. We tried marking Norah's height the other day(on a 2x4 in the furnace room) and she was less than impressed. We never did get her height marked....
If my first "subway art" sign turns out, I'll make a couple more. I'd love to have the "fruits of the Spirit" on a sign for the kids' room and I think I need this verse for my room;

35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”[f] Hebrews 10:35-37
I think these letters would look great in a playroom! I just love the different fonts and that button for the letter "o" is so cute. At $175 per set, I think I'll try buying plain letters and painting them myself.
Of course I'm still lovin me some iced coffee! Have you tried the recipe I posted way back when? If not, give it a try. Recipe posted here.

So, I'll let you know how these projects turn out. I also have a couple before/after pictures I'd like to share. We refinished a dresser and a little rocking chair for the kids. More on that later.

My BFF Stella is flying in today to spend a week with us. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! I have been counting down the days until her arrival since May! It's going to be a really great week.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Pictures Galore

I haven't posted any pictures of the kids lately so, this post is your picture update.
We're still coloring everyday, Norah started getting bored with just coloring on the tablet so we've been going to sesamestreet.org and printing out coloring pages for her. It's pretty intense watching her wait for the page to drop out of the printer. I compare the excitement to Game 7 of the World Series. You know.... 9th inning, bases loaded, two outs, game tied at 2....

These kids love playing outside together. Norah pulls Henry in the wagon, stopping every-so-often to walk back to him and check on him and give him a kiss.
Father/daughter jam session before bed.... melts my heart...
Henry may have been doing "the worm" in the picture above. He has some crazy dance moves that I need to capture with the video camera. That's the only way you're gonna believe me... seriously, who taught him the moves?
Apple cider donut from Tanner's Apple Orchard.... mmmmm
 Henry's a very serious boy....
NAH.... only kidding! He's usually all smiles!
These next two pictures accurately portray each kid's personality...
Our little wild man!
We were not going to let summer past us by without teaching the kids the important things like.... drinking from the hose!
Henry will be walking any. day. now. Did I seriously just type that?!?! He's walked about 3 feet on his own and we are so excited for our little guy. We love celebrating these amazing milestones! And speaking of milestones.....
Norah went potty yesterday on the potty!! WOOP WOOP!!! There was lots of clapping and cheering and dancing. She's been showing interest so... operation potty training is FULL SPEED AHEAD. Great job Norah!
Good Monday morning! This is how Henry sometimes has his paci when I go in his room, to get him up for the day.
Norah and I made a t-shirt necklace which turned out pretty cool. Tutorial can be found here.

As you maybe guessed from the pictures, we are absolutely LOVING watching our kids grow. Everyday, they're doing something new and exciting and, I feel truly blessed to be there just to witness these beautiful moments. Norah's speech is getting clear and she's such a beautiful little girl. Henry's happy and independent but, still a mama's boy. He likes to cuddle with me with his cheek pressed against mine and his little hands holding onto the back of my hair(usually doesn't end well). I look at these kids and I see Jesus dwelling within them.... it's a great and often times overwhelming feeling!

27 I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. 28 So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD.”  1Samuel 1:27-28

Courageous: The Movie

The movie Courageous comes out next month(September 30). Below is the movie trailer which I must say..... is amazing!! I personally find it pretty awesome that Christian based movies really seem to "hold their own" in the box office. There's nothing quite like watching a movie and not feeling like you need to shield your eyes.... and ears.

Obsession?!

Amy Butler's Midwest Modern Optic Blossom Linen.... are you familiar??? This is my very favorite fabric right now and, in the last 48 hours I may have gotten myself into a little bit of trouble with the man of this house..... I blame Etsy. I mean..... I could've ordered much more but, I settled for a nursing cover, 2 paci clips and a zippered pouch... I don't think that's going overboard.... and they were mostly all gifts anyway...

I hope you enjoy this fabric too! If you click on the links below, you'll be directed to the Etsy.com sales listing.
Joel, this full apron would make a REALLY great Christmas gift!
In the midst of my obsessive searching casual browsing today on Etsy.com, I found SO many awesome things in this beautiful fabric. Crib sets, diaper clutches, pot holders, ottomans(YES, OTTOMANS!), camera cases, pillow covers, checkbook covers just to name a few....

I need to get off this computer STAT before I convice myself that I need to have the tissue box cover made from this fabric! :)

Have an amazing weekend!!

norah's favorite song

We've listened to this Sesame Street  "What I Am" song about 789 times in the past week! It's so cute and Norah's comes up with the most hilarious new dance moves everytime we listen to it. I think it's pretty awesome too...... I may or may not have listened to it 3 times before the kids woke up today!

If your kids love Sesame Street..... you know what to do..... hit that play button!!
Happy Monday!

Beautiful art{ist}

So... we spent A LOT of time coloring. Norah feels like such a big girl when she creates a beautiful picture all by herself.
I asked her to draw a picture of this firetruck..... she took the request very seriously.

I've never been a pack rat... I actually LOVE throwing/ donating stuff. I think it's just easier to keep the house clean when there's a place for everything and not alot of clutter. But, with all this beautiful art Norah's been making, this house will be filled in no time with sentimental pictures/projects!!

Have a great weekend!!

Matthew 11:28-31

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-31

Henry

Henry wakes up fresh from his morning nap and, I put him in his highchair so he can join his sister and I for lunch.
He smiles at me and waits patiently for his ham sandwich...
He looks over at Norah and offers a nice smile that says, good morning sis, did you have a fun time playing outside? :)
He's all smiles and I am so proud of my little boy.
You would never guess that he was up several times last night......
You would never guess that the top tooth we've been anticipating for weeks has finally showed up. He is all smiles.
Also, he's standing on his own now and, walks behind the plastic lion that also helped Norah learn to walk.

Henry, slow down please! Mommy wants you little for just awhile longer.:)
