Dog Days

With a heat advisory that's been in effect from Sunday morning and, will be in effect until Saturday night, we are staying inside with the exception of sitting in the pool, making a quick drawing with sidewalk chalk, and getting the mail of course.:)

About this time I usually started anticipating Fall. Changing temperatures, falling leaves, all things pumpkin flavor, apple cider donuts and waking up to the thermostat reading a brisk 67 degrees are a few of my very favorite things. Also, the idea of getting the kids cuddled up in the bike trailer. I miss our evening family bike rides. It's just too hot for them to be in there and leaning on each other, they normally love bike rides and giggle most of the time but..... in this heat it's torture and, they're not afraid to say so!

Still, there is SO much I love about the dog days of summer. Joel takes a week off in the summer, we get to see both sides of our family, each for a week which, can only be described as AWESOME!
Here are a few pictures of us soaking up the summer:
Henry's excited for a hike at Starved Rock!
Norah and Henry on Norah's 2nd Birthday.
These expressions are spotted everytime we play in our kiddie pool.
 Al enjoys the pool too!
Henry has quite an array of funny expressions. Here's his "scrunched nose, disappearing lips" look.
 They adore each other.....
Norah loves chalk but, not on her hands.....
Mom and Henry watching hot air balloons outside our house.

These balloons were part of a festival called "Balloons At The Park." We watched them seven times this past weekend(at 6:30am then again around 6:30pm). The morning flights were neat because it was so calm outside that we could hear the pilots talking back-and-forth to each other.
Not to be outdone by her younger brother, Norah's also been expanding her repertoire of funny expressions.
Henry does bring some stiff competition to the table though.... see above picture!

Happy Tuesday!
