"Run For The Health Of It"

My parents and sister left yesterday morning and, I really have such a hard time whenever they leave. My sister had been here for 5 weeks, my parents here for one. I know God brought us to Illinois and I really do love living here but, somedays I am just like a 10 yr old, homesick at summer camp. Watching my family bond with Norah and Henry is such an amazing sight and, I wish I could witness that bond daily.

Anyway.... when they leave I look thru the pictures on my camera about a gazillion times. After I finish browsing thru the pictures I feel such a sense on peace. I am blessed to be part of a family that loves so deeply. I am blessed to laugh until I have a tummy-aches everytime my parents are here.

This post isn't about my sulking in self-pity but, instead about a 5k race that Al and I ran last weekend. Not much if a segway, huh?? Anyway, it was a local run called "Run for the health of it" and that's just what we did. Right, Al?? I had only 2 goals for the race 1. run the whole 3.1 miles and 2. finish with 31 minutes. I am happy to say I ran the whole thing and finished in 29:50. It felt great! I hope this can be something I do every year, since the run started at 7am, I was able to nurse Henry, leave and be back home by 7:40am. Norah was still sleeping and Henry was already taking his first nap when I got home. When we came home we showered, went for a hike with Joel and the kids then, prepared for my parents' arrival later that day. It was a really great day.
Now onto my next goal.... getting myself to run a 5k at least 5 days a week. Now that my goal's posted online..... I'll be forced to stick with it!:)
